Over the past seven years my passion for engineering design has led me to become a member of both high school and university robotics teams. My high school experience with FIRST robotics culminated in my position as head of the design team, and with our team winning several awards for excellence in engineering design. More recently, as the mechanical head of the University of Guelph Robotics Team, I have enjoyed designing, 3D printing and testing many components for the team’s Mars Rover as well as leading the creation multiple new components and sub assemblies. Over the years I have also created many personal designs and have become skilled at using design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, Fusion360 and OnShape. Most recently I have begun using Catia and look forward to improving my design skills even further. I also enjoy working with 3D printers and have spent time upgrading my own printer as well as repairing and upgrading the university’s printers. Although most of my design experience has been with robotics, I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills to other industries as I enter the workforce as a mechanical engineering co-op student.

  • Proficient in Office 365, 6 programming languages, and SolidWorks Visualize, developed through 6 years experience on robotics teams and co-op placements

  • Skilled at using CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Onshape, Catia)

  • Over 200 hours experience designing, manufacturing, and building robots as part of high school and university robotics teams, and through academic and personal design projects

  • Adept at designing for optimal improvement, as demonstrated through re-design of robot to include improved drive system, optimizing for minimal weight and maximum strength

  • Skilled in additive and subtractive manufacturing processes, with experience designing and creating parts using 3D printers, as well as 90 hours experience using lathe and milling machines

  • Excellent time management and communication skills as demonstrated through exemplary work ethic and customer service, as a valued member of Home Depot seasonal department team

  • Leadership experience gained as head of design on U of G and FIRST robotics teams, responsible for collaboration between sub-teams,  delegating tasks, and teaching CAD software
